Margaret Greenwood-Ericksen MD, MSc

Margaret Greenwood-Ericksen MD, MSc, serves on the ED Bridge Team as the Engagement and Dissemination Director. She is an Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine at the University of New Mexico with a secondary appointment in the Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences Department. She is an emergency physician and health services researcher who studies health disparities in the quality and delivery of healthcare, particularly for rural communities and the Medicaid population. Her career is focused on optimizing and transforming the structure of care delivery to improve outcomes for these vulnerable populations. She is widely published on rural emergency care quality and outcomes, health related-social needs, and rural care delivery models. She has developed national rural-specific curriculum for emergency department quality improvement and serves on national committees dedicated to rural quality and delivery. She is funded on several state projects including 1) evaluation of outcomes for COVID-19 after rural New Mexico hospital transfer, 2) evaluation of SUD treatment in NM, and 3) assessment of the NM Medicaid 1115 waiver’s impact on SUD and behavioral health outcomes

NM Bridge Implementation Team:

As the Engagement and Dissemination Director, Dr. Greenwood-Ericksen is responsible for hospital recruitment, ensuring successful engagement and dissemination of the NM Bridge Implementation project regionally and nationally. In this capacity, Dr. Greenwood-Ericksen is responsible for recruiting hospital’s for participation, describing the NM Bridge project, and assuring engagement with hospital leadership to support initial steps of program implementation. She works to define the budget, scopes of work, and identify key leaders within the hospital to assure success of the program. She serves on the implementation team to support the hospitals in collaboration with other experts – in particular – assuring that the program considers any rural-specific aspects of the community or hospital. Dr. Greenwood-Ericksen is the lead on dissemination of NM Bridge Implementation project including research, publications, social media, and website development and design.
