Substance Use Disorders (SUD) remain some of the most stigmatized illness. Recognize stigmatizing language and learn the components of recovery, how stigma is a barrier to recovery, and what you can do to combat stigma and promote recovery.\n\nAbout the Presenter\nSnehal Bhatt, MD, is an associate professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the University of New Mexico. He also serves as the Chief of Addiction Psychiatry at UNM. He provides his clinical services at a busy outpatient clinic treating over 850 individuals with complex substance use disorders and co-occurring psychiatric illnesses. He has also served as the Addictions Advisor for Indian Health Services, providing direct clinical care, consultations, and education nationally. Dr. Bhatt is funded by National Institutes on Drug Abuse to investigate strategies to improve treatment outcomes for individuals with Opioid Use Disorders, and to investigate a novel agent to treat opioid withdrawals. Additionally, he is currently involved in projects to build capacity to treat OUD within rural New Mexico, and to train all United States Public Health Service officers in the management of chronic pain and substance use disorders.\nNote: We need a minimum of three registered participants at least one day in advance or the training may be cancelled.
